\u201cThe colorful art of flamenco,\u00a0rooted deeply in Spanish Folklore, The first time Flamenco is reported in literature is in the “Cartas Marruecas<\/em>” of\u00a0Cadalso, in 1774.\u00a0 The first flamenco-schools created were: C\u00e1diz<\/em>, Jerez de la Frontera<\/em> and Triana<\/em> (Seville).<\/p>\n Flamenco is a genuine Spanish art, and to be more exact a genuine Southern Spanish art. It exists in three forms:\u00a0Cante<\/em>, the song,\u00a0Baile<\/em>, the dance, and\u00a0Guitarra<\/em>, guitar playing.<\/p>\n Gypsies are very often named as its\u00a0father of flamenco, and at least it can be taken for\u00a0 certain that they played an important part in its creation. But also the popular songs and dances of Andalusia have influenced early flamenco considerably.\u00a0 Certainly there were other influences, too, and it is not surprising in a country that has been dominated by many diverse cultures and civilizations during its different historical periods. There were the legendary\u00a0Tartessos, and seven centuries of Muslim occupation hardly could have passed without leaving traces. All of this, directly or indirectly, influenced flamenco. Early flamenco seems to have been purely vocal, accompanied only by rhythmical clapping of hands,\u00a0toque de palmas<\/em>.<\/p>\n During its\u00a0Golden Age\u00a0(1869-1910) flamenco was developed in the Spain\u2019s numerous music caf\u00e9s (caf\u00e9s cantantes<\/em>) to its definitive form. Also, the more serious forms of flamenco in expressing deep feelings (cante jondo<\/em>) dates from then.\u00a0 Flamenco dance increased in it\u2019s popularity during this time, being the major attraction for the public of those\u00a0caf\u00e9s cantantes. Guitar players featuring the dancers increasingly gained a reputation.<\/p>\n The time from 1910 to 1955 flamenco singing is marked by the\u00a0\u00f3pera flamenca<\/em>, with an\u00a0 easier kind of music such as\u00a0fandangos\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0cantes de ida y vuelta<\/em>. The latter clearly showed South American influences.\u00a0 From 1915 on, flamenco shows were organized and performed all over the world.<\/p>\n 1955 started a sort of\u00a0Flamenco Renaissance, the great performer Antonio Mairena<\/em> being its key figure. Outstanding dancers and soloists soon made their way out of the small\u00a0tablaos<\/em>, successors to the early\u00a0caf\u00e9s cantantes<\/em>, to the great theaters and concert houses. It was also during this time that flamenco guitarists came into greater prominence as accompanists to the dancers.<\/p>\n Flamenco frequently shows influences of other kinds of music, as Jazz, Salsa, Bossa Nova, etc.<\/p>\n Also Flamenco dance has changed, especially as female dancers try to showcase their temperament rather than the artistry that is flamenco and can now joined in fusion with other styles. The flamenco guitar that formerly was just featuring the dancers arrived to be a solo art form, with the great virtuoso Paco de Lucia<\/em> being the pioneer of that development.
